Elementary Friday Fun Day

Elementary teacher, Amy Long, brought back Friday Fun Days as a “gift to the teachers so they could have some time at the end of each quarter to get everything organized for grade cards.”

Let the fun begin!

In December, the Friday Fun Day theme was “Christmas.” What are those big boxes on the stage? Oh, presents! Mrs. Long uses this time with the students to teach them object lessons. She said it’s her time to reconnect with the kids and to just have fun.

“It started as a gift from me to the teachers, but secretly it’s my time with the kids! We can play games and I can teach them silly camp songs,” said Mrs. Long.

Not long after Friday Fun Days began again, it quickly became an opportunity for the 6th graders to show leadership. Sixth grade students organize songs, game and snacks.

All of the K-6th students start off in the gym on Friday Fun Day, then the kindergartners move over to another space (with 6th grade helpers) so the younger ones don’t get overwhelmed. They enjoy their own games at their own pace.

The next Fun Day will take place in March. The final Fun Day is actually “Field Day,” where students go outside to the high school track and participate in track and field activities. Field Day was a big hit last year, so Mrs. Long said it will be repeated again this year in May.

Thanks for being such a blessing to our teachers and students Mrs. Long!
