Spiritual Life

The heart of education is the education of the heart. Luke 6:45

Spiritual life is the heart of Troy Christian Schools. We believe that God should be a part of every aspect of our student’s lives. Our curriculum is chosen so that every area of study shows how God is a part of everything we do. Our goal is teach our children how to have a biblical worldview based on cornerstone principals. A worldview that allows us to make our decisions and operate in everyday life based on what God would think and do. Christ-like character qualities are emphasized at the elementary school. Students learn the character qualities, their meaning, and a Bible verse for that quality. On each report card the teacher names a quality that the child has shown during the quarter and one that they need to work on. Students of the Week, students who have demonstrated Christ-like character, are recognized during chapel each week.

Matthew 5:13 says, “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” This verse captures the message that we desire the staff, students, and families of our school to live by. To be S.A.L.T. ~ which means to Speak, Act, Look, and Think like Jesus. Each year we are going to cover a letter of the acronym. This year we will focus upon L – Lead like Jesus. Mark 10: 43-45 says, “…whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant and whoever wants to be first must be a slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and give his life as a ransom for many.”

To help our students be salt in their world we make sure that they are actively involved in service and missions. The sixth grade class works all year to earn funds for their end of the year mission trip to Charleston, WV.  High School students are given many other opportunities to serve during ESM Week and with other mission projects throughout the year. We give our students many opportunities to serve locally, nationally, and internationally.

Chapel is a very special time for the entire school. Every Friday the students gather together to praise, worship, pray, and learn about God. Guest speakers, staff, and classes present special teaching times at each chapel. Special chapels (Celebration of Life, Veterans Day, National Day of Prayer, etc.) are planned throughout the year.
