Kindergarten - 6th Grade

Troy Christian Elementary consists of Kindergarten through 6th grade. Our elementary program provides a strong foundation in bible, reading, writing, math, science, and history/social studies, along with a rich technology emphasis and extra-curricular interests.

Our classroom sizes average 18-20 students per classroom. Our teachers strive to build relationships with our students, challenging them to grow both spiritually and academically.  In the younger classrooms we provide an additional aide based on class size in order to allow for more individualized instruction.

“R2G2” is a term you will hear often throughout our building. “Respect, Responsibility, Gratitude, Genuineness”. These are core values that are taught at each grade level and encouraged in students to live out.

Our school curriculum is standards-based with an integrated Christian worldview. Critical thinking and problem solving are emphasized across all subject areas and grade levels.

Bible and character development are taught in the classroom daily. Art, physical education, music, band or choir are a part of each child’s week.

Science, math, and technology integrates advanced concepts using the latest S.T.E.M. curriculum, equipment, and hands-on learning experiences utilizing iPads, Chromebooks, LEGOS, and Vex Robotics kits.

Technology is utilized in all grade levels for instruction in typing, coding, problem solving, research projects, and internet safety.

Athletics, extracurricular subjects, weekly chapel, and field trips provide academic, physical and leadership development opportunities.

  • What does a typical day look like?

Our elementary students have 2 - 3 recesses per day. In addition, they participate in specials each day and chapel on Fridays. We begin rotating classes in 2nd grade. 2nd through 4th is taught by two team teachers based on subject. 5th and 6th grade rotate between four teachers based on subject.
  • What assessments do you use?

We currently do The Ohio State Reading Test in the third grade. 1st - 5th grades participate in the Terra Nova test and we typically average in the 60-80th percentile.  We also use universal screeners in every grade for Reading, Writing and Math to assure no student “slips through the cracks” and assure that every student is making progress through the curriculum.
  • Is there Financial Aid available?

Yes! Please check out our financial aid page. We participate in the Ohio Department of Education scholarship program as well as offer financial aid as needed through the school. We desire for every family wanting to be at Troy Christian to get the opportunity to attend regardless of income.
  • How do we handle discipline?

Our desire is for heart transformation. We have specific members of administration who handle discipline based on individual cases.  We partner with the parents in this process.
  • What about the struggling learner?

We have an Intervention department at our elementary and come alongside those students who are struggling. We offer a variety of tools in order to best aid the student in their education journey. For more information on our Intervention philosophy please visit here
